Em and en dashes are considered the proper punctuation in many cases. Using em and en dashes can be considered similar–albeit outdated in HTML–to putting one space between sentences: two spaces are a relic of the old days of fixed-width typewriters, needed to make the page readable. I notice that you use one space.
