Rockford is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,177 at the 2020 census. [4] Located along the Rogue River, the city is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is about 10 miles (16.1 km) north of the city of Grand Rapids.
On April 2, 1692, he was elected to the House of Burgesses as one of two representatives from New Kent County, Virginia, for two years. He introduced a piece of legislation, requiring that county clerks maintain an office in their respective county courthouse. In 1693 he deeded his 400-acre Assaquin Plantation to his grandson William Meriwether.
Until about 1640, Claiborne lived in Elizabeth City County. After 1640 he lived at a plantation (later Romancoke, Virginia), near the confluence of the Mattaponi and Pamunkey Rivers, in what was initially York County, but which through divisions in 1654 became New Kent County, and eventually in 1701 (after his death) King William County [5]
