I recently bought a Ruger Security 9 and I having issues with misfires. I have put around 600 rounds through it so far and have only shot maybe three mags where I didn't experience a misfire. There have been times where in 30 rounds there were 10 misfires. I have cleaned the gun twice and was careful to remove all of the factory gunk and added ...
The rear sight is easy, remove the set screw and push out. The front sight has a roll pin, just use a sight pusher and it pushes out easily. The front sight is a very tight fit on my security 9. It took a little sanding off bottom to get it started, then tapped in with a nylon punch and hammer. Great final outcome. This is an older thread, you ...
There's plenty in the $100-150 price range. Don't get cheap on this accessory. Red dots for pistols (sales) keeps the economy in motion. However, most are not going to practice effective use at regular intervals, and it's going to be little appreciated, or practiced enough for practical use. Practice strong hand, weak hand, both hands, day, and ...
Ruger Security 9 - Failure to Feed? Hello everyone, first time gun owner here. Bought a new Security 9 about 3 weeks ago (against all feedback from friends), took it out shooting last weekend straight from the box, and had nothing but jams. I fired 75 rounds (30ct Federal brass & 45ct Browning brass), and approximately every 5 rounds the gun ...

I was shooting factory Blazer Brass 115's and 124's as well as my reloads and the problem persisted no matter what ammo I used.
Security 9 I own three Security 9 pistols. One went back to Ruger for repairs twice. The first time was for a broken hammer and a broken firing pin. The second time was for a broken firing pin. A Ruger tech called and asked me if I had had the rails polished. No. Just lots of dry firing. He suggested I cut way back on dry firing.
Just got a Security 9 this week and today went to where I shoot. Every shot was over 2 feet low and just about 2 feet to the left at 25 yards. I'm not even in the ball park to where I was aiming. Its good ammo I have used in another 9mm's with out issue. I had to stop after 1 mag as this in my opinion is DANGEROUSLY OFF.

It's my home defense weapon upstairs and I'm just curious how the gun will perform with the heavier guide rod and recoil spring at the range.
Lesgeaux. I have both and am keeping both, they go bang every time. If you want a glock like trigger, which is nice go with the Security 9. If you want a trigger that is long, smooth (mine) and takes a little heavier pull, which is much less likely to pull unintentionally then the SD9VE is a good choice.
New-to-pistol shooter here. I snagged a Security-9 a few weeks ago along with a M&P Shield 9. Both were on sale and the gun shop folks spoke highly of them for the price. I’m having nothing but issues with the Security-9, though. From the second shooting session onwards (now up to 10), it will fail to eject about every fourth casing from the ...
