In this video, Dr. Eric Sorenson discusses the EMG (Electromyography) test. @wisfloj @rwinney @johnbishop Hi all, I had the EMG/Nerve conduction tests, twice, at 2 different places, 2 different techs, 2 different neurologists. The first time, I found both tests to be a bit painful, at times. Not terrible, but a touch painful.
I guess my neuropathic body was simply very sensitive to any unusual external force and exertion. The somatosensory evoked potentials test provoked a painful relapse of my peripheral neuropathy that lasted for months. I have not had worsening of symptoms after any of my regular EMG tests. In reply to @bcool123 "Peripheral neuropathy both feet.
A month later a second neurologist did an EMG test and I had no pain at all. I should mention that my condition hadn’t changed during this period. EMGs needn’t be painful. The skill of the doctor or technician has a lot to do with it. I've had my share of EMG's, 3 at Mayo and a couple at HP Specialty Centre's.
The only pain I experienced from the EMG test was needle poking through my skin. My pain threshold is very low though and I don't like needles so I tend to be very sensitive to it. Afterward I had several bruises on the skin where the needles were inserted but they went away after a few weeks.
During an EMG (electromyography) the very thin needles are inserted into your muscles ( not veins) to measure electrical activity of your muscles. I’ve had about three EMGs and for me it’s a painless procedure. Hasn’t your doctor offered you any treatment to possibly alleviate any discomfort you may be having.
Hello All. I don’t post often but wanted to hear from you regarding the results from my EMG test. Like many of you I to have daily pain. My evenings are worse but at least I know what happens in the evening,. EVERY evening my legs from the knee down lose control with my ability to walk.
Hopefully the hand doctor you are going to see will schedule an EMG test to rule out carpel tunnel. After my PMR diagnosis and was put on Prednisone, I noticed my hands swelling while I slept and did not get better until hours after my morning dose of Prednisone, which I found odd but was happy for relief.
Electromyography (EMG) is composed of two subtests: the nerve conduction study and the needle electrode examination. Each provides different information about the peripheral nervous system, which when analyzed together allows for a diagnostic conclusion. Electroencephalography (EEG) is an electrophysiological monitoring method to record ...
marye2 | @marye2 | Aug 28, 2020. ( (answering even though not Tsch) I've had multiple EMGs for nerve pain associated with MTCD. The first, a baseline, was the entire body, and it was tiring and painful near the end. Other times, for carpal tunnel and knee pain, which wasn't bad at all. 1 Reaction.
Just Two year after 1st( considerably painful shingles infection I had a reoccurrence 2days after an EMG spinal/lumba test in same area. I assumed I had antibodies, but feel that the stress of the EMG was a trigger & realize my age 86 yrs old/female compromises the immune system.
