Rupi Kaur (born 4 October 1982) is a Canadian poet, illustrator, photographer, and author. Born in Punjab , India, Kaur immigrated to Canada at a young age with her family. She began performing poetry in 2009 and rose to fame on Omegle , eventually becoming a popular poet through her three collections of poetry.
After arriving in Canada, at the age of 5, Kaur began reading, drawing, writing poetry, and painting because she could not speak English and struggled to make friends. [8] Kaur eventually learned English by the fourth grade and credited her love for spoken word poetry to community open microphone nights. [ 7 ]
The Sunday Times review described the book as "alluding repeatedly to the personal damage of growing up in a world of abusive men, while being full of determination to recover."
