Woodstock Farm Sanctuary (previously Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary) is a farm animal rights and protection organization, founded in 2004. [1] It provides information related to the production and consumption of animal products through rescue, education, and advocacy.
The Harrington Hotel in Canton, New York overlooked the Grasse River until it was demolished in 1959. The first attempt at settlement was made in 1800, but the first permanent settlement occurred in 1801. The first post office used the name "New Cairo," but changed to Canton by 1807. The early economy was based on farming and lumbering.
The present church is the third to stand on the site; the first was completed in 1691. Woodstock Academy was founded in 1802, and the town center benefited from the philanthropy of Henry Chandler Bowen. Bowen was a descendant of one of the town's first settlers, and was a successful New York businessman.
