Choroideremia (/ k ɒ ˌ r ɔɪ d ɪ ˈ r iː m i ə /; CHM) is a rare, X-linked recessive form of hereditary retinal degeneration that affects roughly 1 in 50,000 males. The disease causes a gradual loss of vision, starting with childhood night blindness, followed by peripheral vision loss and progressing to loss of central vision later in life.
Tailor's bunion, also known as digitus quintus varus or bunionette, is a condition caused as a result of inflammation of the fifth metatarsal bone at the base of the little toe. [ 1 ] It is usually characterized by inflammation, pain and redness of the little toe.
Dent's disease (or Dent disease) is a rare X-linked recessive inherited condition that affects the proximal renal tubules [1] of the kidney. It is one cause of Fanconi syndrome, and is characterized by tubular proteinuria, excess calcium in the urine, formation of calcium kidney stones, nephrocalcinosis, and chronic kidney failure.
Symptoms may include irritation of the skin around the bunion, and blisters may form more easily at the site. Pain may be worse when walking. Bunions can lead to difficulties finding properly fitting footwear and may force a person to buy a larger size shoe to accommodate the width of the bunion.
The most common cause of foot pain is wearing ill fitting shoes. Women often wear tight shoes that are narrow and constrictive, and thus are most prone to foot problems. Tight shoes often cause overcrowding of toes and result in a variety of structural defects. The next most common cause of foot disease is overuse or traumatic injuries. [3]
Choroideremia-deafness-obesity syndrome This condition is inherited in an X-linked recessive manner. Ayazi syndrome (or Chromosome 21 Xq21 deletion syndrome ) [ 1 ] is a syndrome characterized by choroideremia , congenital deafness and obesity .
Oculocerebrorenal syndrome (also called Lowe syndrome) is a rare X-linked recessive disorder characterized by congenital cataracts, hypotonia, intellectual disability, proximal tubular acidosis, aminoaciduria and low-molecular-weight proteinuria.
Since the diseased area (lesion) is not encapsulated, clinical margins are difficult to define. As such, portions of the diseased tissue may be left in the foot after surgery. Inadequate excision is the leading cause of recurrence. [2] [7] Radiotherapy has been shown to reduce the size of the nodules and reduce the pain associated with them.
