The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located in Boulder City, Clark County, Nevada. Established in 1990, the 79-acre cemetery is approximately 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. This is one of two state operated Veterans Cemeteries, the other is the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 437 miles away in Fernley, Nevada. [1]
Danville National Cemetery was established by the federal government on August 14, 1867 on a plot of 2.6 acres (1.1 ha). This was part of the process to recognize and commemorate the military dead. Almost all of the original interments were Union prisoners-of-war who had been held in the city of Danville.
As of December 2014, a total of 42,964 veterans and family members have been interred at one of the two Nevada's Veterans Memorial Cemeteries in either Boulder City or Fernley Nevada.
