Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge is an 829-acre (3.35 km 2) Georgia state park located between Ellijay and Dahlonega in Dawsonville, Georgia. The park's name is derived from a Cherokee language word meaning "tumbling waters". [1] The park is home to Amicalola Falls, a 729-foot (222 m) waterfall that is the highest in Georgia. [2]
The Park was day-use only until the mid-1950s. The years 1955 and '56, however, saw several improvements to buildings and grounds including the construction of 25 cabins, a dammed fishing/skating lake, and a 55-room lodge dubbed "The Lodge in the Sky" (since the park is the highest in the state) which was opened and dedicated in 1957.

The camp is located 7.2 miles (11.6 km) south of Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, and 7.6 miles (12.2 km) northeast of the Merced Lake High Sierra Camp by the Fletcher Creek Trail. An alternate route, which crosses Vogelsang Pass at 10,480 feet (3,190 m) [ 13 ] and then takes the Lewis Creek Trail to Merced Lake, is 8.4 miles (13.5 km).
