Israeli Air Force Base Hatzor [ edit ] The 101 Squadron "First Fighter" was founded in May 1948 as the first military aircraft squadron in Israel and relocated to Hatzor in November – at that time still with Avia S-199 fighter aircraft, made from leftover parts of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 .
In June 1991, the squadron relocated to the air base at Hatzerim, from which it flew 79 sorties during Operation Accountability in April 1993. In the wake of the Oslo Accords the US agreed to supply the IAF with the F-15E Strike Eagle. 69 Squadron was disbanded in early 1994 in expectation of its re-equipment with the new aircraft.
The 102 Squadron of the Israeli Air Force, also known as the Flying Tiger Squadron, operated TA-4H Skyhawk trainers and A-4N fighters and now operates M-346 Lavi at Hatzerim Airbase in the Negev near Beersheba.
