Joyous Celebration is a South African gospel group formed by Mthunzi Namba, Jabu Hlongwane and Lindelani Mkhize in 1994. [ 1 ] Their debut studio album Joyous Celebration, Vol. 9 (2005), became their best-selling album and certified 2 × platinum in South Africa. [ 2 ]
Ntokozo Mbambo (born 6 November 1985) is a South African singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Umlazi, [1] Mbambo professional music career began as a member and lead singer of the gospel group Joyous Celebration at the age of 15. She made her on-screen debut as a judge in I Want to Sing Gospel (2014) and Idols SA season 17 (2021).
Khaya Mthethwa first appeared as a backing vocalist singing Tenor for Joyous Celebration co-founder Mthunzi Namba's Mercy album. He was then asked to join Joyous Celebration two days prior to the live recording of Joyous Celebration 15 in 2010. [6] In 2012 Khaya appeared on Ntokozo Mbambo's Filled studio album
Ntombela began her career as a backing vocalist for Ntokozo Mbambo. [1] In 2012, she was asked to lead a song with the Joyous Celebration gospel choir, after Khaya Mthethwa was unable to do so because of a commitment to Idols South Africa. She joined the choir afterwards. [1] Ntombela later left the choir and embarked on a solo career as HLE.
Lavish Worship won Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Faith Album of the Year, and Female Artist of the Year at the 29th ceremony of South African Music Awards. [2] In addition at the 18th ceremony of Metro FM Music Awards Lavish Worship, was nominated for Best Female and won Best Gospel Album.
