Richard West (18 July 1930 – 25 April 2015) was a British journalist and author best known for his reporting of the Vietnam War and Yugoslavia. [1] He is described by Damian Thompson as "one of the finest foreign correspondents of the 20th century", [2] with a career that covered the span of the Cold War in most of its theatres.

West was a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, and, subsequently, in the Indian-owned Albuquerque law firm of Gover, Stetson, Williams & West, P.C. [2] During his law career, West served as both a general counsel and special counsel to a wide range of tribes and non-tribal organizations, before tribal, state, and federal and tribal courts. [7]
Richard West is an American politician, businessman, and retired law enforcement officer. He is a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives from the 102nd district. Prior to redistricting he represented the 63rd district, which consisted of parts of western St. Charles County and parts of eastern Warren County .
