MacDill Air Force Base (MacDill AFB) (IATA: MCF, ICAO: KMCF, FAA LID: MCF) is an active United States Air Force installation located 4 miles (6.4 km) south-southwest of downtown Tampa, Florida. The "host wing" for MacDill AFB is the 6th Air Refueling Wing (6 ARW), assigned to the Eighteenth Air Force of the Air Mobility Command .

In an administrative reorganization by HQ Army Air Force, on 1 May 1944, training units in the Zone of the Interior (ZI) (Continental United States) were re-designated as "Army Air Force Base Units". At Boca Raton, the 3501st Army Air Force Base Unit (Technical School, Radar) assumed the training school mission.

The U.S. Forest Service ceded over 340,000 acres (1,400 km 2) of the Choctawhatchee National Forest to the War Department on 18 October 1940.
CONR is located at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, and has responsibility over two air defense sectors: the Western Air Defense Sector at McChord Air Force Base, Washington state and the Eastern Air Defense Sector at Rome, New York.
