Duy Tân (at the time, known by his birth name, Prince Nguyễn Phúc Vĩnh San) was son of the Thành Thái emperor. Because of his opposition to French rule and his erratic, depraved actions (which some speculate were feigned to shield his opposition from the French) Thành Thái was declared insane and exiled to Vũng Tàu in 1907.

Châu Thành A is a rural district (huyện) of Hậu Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam.In the wake of Government Decree 64/2000/ND-CP on November 6, 2000, Châu Thành A district, formerly of Cần Thơ, was reestablished by removing 22.139 km 2 of land and 163,357 people from Châu Thành.
The district is divided into one urban municipality and 12 communes: Tân Thạnh township, Bắc Hòa, Hậu Thạnh Đông, Hậu Thạnh Tây, Kiến Bình, Nhơn Hòa, Nhơn Hòa Lập, Nhơn Ninh, Tân Bình, Tân Hòa, Tân Lập and Tân Ninh.
