On 6 October 2006, the BF Mk II was officially launched by former Ford Australia President Tom Gorman. The BF Falcon MkII went on sale on 22 October 2006. The XT, Futura and Fairmont gained a design facelift, with a new bonnet, headlights, grille and front and rear bumpers, while the XR range gained some minor interior updates.
The Force models are essentially an FPV version of the Fairmont Ghia (luxury model in the Falcon range). BF MkII (2006–2008) The F6 Typhoon did not get any mechanical upgrades with the BF MkII update of late-2006. Minor changes included new design alloy wheels and a change to graphite fog-lamp surrounds (instead of body-coloured). FPV also introduced the luxury focused Force 6 during the MKII update. Often mistaken as a limited edition, it is not.
For many enthusiasts, this GT "R-Spec" is seen as the spiritual successor of the original "GT-HO" models that ended with the 1971 Ford XY Falcon GT. Ford (and FPV), however, have always remained reluctant to recycle the "HO" nameplate on its modern-day products. The GT R-Spec is still the fastest ever Australian produced Ford over the 1/4mile.
Ford released the Mk II (BA II) Falcon in October 2004 to maintain sales interest until the 2005 introduction of the BF update. Modifications included some cosmetic changes and a new six-speed Tremec T56 manual transmission replacing the five-speed on XR6 Turbo and XR8 models.

The Ford Falcon is a full-size car that was manufactured by Ford Australia from 1960 to 2016. From the XA series of 1972 onward, each Falcon and range of derivates have been designed, developed, and built in Australia, following the phasing out of the American-influenced Falcon of 1960 to 1971, which had been re-engineered locally as the XK to XY series for the harsher Australian conditions.
