The Naugatuck Center Historic District encompasses the historic civic and business center of Naugatuck, Connecticut. Centered around the town green, the district includes churches, schools and municipal buildings, many from the late 19th or early 20th centuries, as well as a diversity of residential architecture.

The Connecticut Department of Children and Youth Services was established around 1970. The Long Lane School became a part of the new department in 1970. [2]In 1989, a group of plaintiffs instituted an action against the Connecticut Department of Children and Youth Services [3] which resulted in a requirement for federal court supervision of DCF, which has continued for more than 20 years to date.
The Naugatuck River Valley is the watershed area of the Naugatuck River in the western part of Connecticut. The Naugatuck Valley Planning Region is a planning region and county-equivalent in Connecticut. It is served by the coterminous Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG). In 2022, planning regions were approved to replace Connecticut's counties as county-equivalents for statistical purposes, with full implementation occurring by 2024. [1] [2]
