Apparently there has been a bad run of strips that Walmart is selling. I went to Amazon and ordered what is recommended as the most accurate home meter available. I got the Bayer contour Next. We sat down and started doing readings of the Relion VS Bayer. The results were extremely consistent. The relion was showing 20 points higher than the Bayer.
A few years ago, my health insurance changed, and I learned that the new plan covered only a limited amount of test strips per day. Thankfully, I already knew about the Walmart brand ReliOn, which produces an array of affordable health care products, including blood glucose meters and testing strips. For the last several years, if I ever needed extra test strips, I would purchase the ReliOn ...
May 28, 2015. #1. My brother, a Type 1 for over 50 years, recently went on Medicare. He has always preferred WALMART's Relion meter and test strips, due to low cost. But when he went to pick up his most recent Rx for test strips, he was informed by the Walmart pharmacist that Medicare does not cover the Relion brand!
I bought WalMart's ReliOn Ultima BG monitor since their strips are among the cheapest. (I have a prescription for Freestyle Lite, but can't get enough strips to test as much as I want.) They're both manufactured by Abbott Labs, but ReliOn's lancet device is big and unwieldy.
How accurate is your blood glucose meter? A major study found that almost half of meters do not meet the minimum required standards: For blood sugars over 75 mg (4.2 mmol): Accurate within 20%. For example, if your blood sugar is 200 mg (11 mmol), the meter must read between 160 (8.8 mmol) and 240 (13.3 mmol) at least 95% of the time. For blood sugars under 75 mg (4.2 mmol): Accurate within 15 ...
Sep 15, 2018. #3. Jtphins said: Hey guys! How accurate are the relion blood sugar testers. I just bought one. I checked my blood sugar 2 hrs after eating and it was 252. Which is a lot lower than the drs office 2 days ago. But just now I checked mine 3 times in a row and it gave me 266, 230, 278.
I use the Relion Prime, which is manufactured by Arkray. Test strips are 9 dollars for a box of 50. I do not test a ton, so this is a really good setup for me. However, the Prime does average 10-20 points higher than my Onetouch, and I sometimes do need to test twice as it is not as tight as my other meter.
Pre-diabetes. May 29, 2024. #5. Speaking of Contour test strips, the Walmart where I usually buy my strips has taken them off the shelf. You have to buy them at the pharmacy window. All of the other strips like ReliOn are still on the shelf. Looks like this particular store has had a theft problem.
Location. Mobile, AL. About Yourself. Pre-diabetes. Dec 6, 2021. #1. I use the ReliOn Prime meter and was curious as to why it's no longer on the shelves at Walmart nor on their website. I called the company, and the meter has been discontinued. I asked about why the strips are still available and was told that they're putting out what they ...
Nov 23, 2017. #1. So I'm reading over the info page in my very first batch of test strips as I prepare to dive into this. And I read warnings about inaccurate readings if the meter or strips get outside of a certain temperature range: 34 degF / 1 degC to 86 degF / 50 degC. Where I live in the USA, we will rarely see the 34 degF.
