[1] The site, covering 40 acres (16 ha), [1] is the only known source of Lambrix chert, which was used for a variety of prehistoric tools.
The Dumaw Creek Site is an archaeological site designated 20OA5, located along Dumaw Creek northeast of Pentwater, Michigan, that was the location of a 17th-century village and cemetery. [2] It is one of the youngest pre-historic sites in Michigan, dating to the terminal Late Woodland Period just prior to European contact. [ 2 ]
In 2016, all of the business loop was dedicated as a part of the West Michigan Pike Pure Michigan Byway. [49] The segment of highway within the village of Pentwater was transferred to the control of the village on May 4, 2023, and the remainder of the highway was to have its signage removed, remaining an unsigned state trunkline highway. [ 61 ]
