U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in Massachusetts is a 117.952-mile-long (189.825 km) portion of the cross-country route connecting Providence, Rhode Island, to Fall River, New Bedford, and Cape Cod. In the Fall River and New Bedford areas, US 6 parallels Interstate 195 (I-195). On Cape Cod, US 6 is a highway interconnecting the towns of the area.
Route 3 was then taken off its remaining pathway along surface streets in Boston and extended up the Southeast Expressway and Central Artery in 1971 to the Storrow Drive exit. The routing of Route 3 has changed little since that time. A re-signing project from 2006 to 2009 changed exit 20 to exit 20A for I-93 south and exit 20B for I-93 north.

I-195 runs from I-95 in Providence to I-495/Route 25 in the Cape Cod region. I-295 runs as a loop around Providence, and ends at I-95 in Massachusetts. I-395 runs from I-95/Connecticut Turnpike in East Lyme, and ends at I-90, where it becomes I-290. I-495 serves as an outer beltway of Boston, and is the second longest auxiliary interstate highway.
