Orlando Pirates have been the champions of the MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup from the year 2022. The team finished 2nd in the previous season and qualified for the 2024–25 CAF Champions League . [ 1 ] They won the 2024 MTN 8 winning it for the third consecutive season, the first team to do so.
The inaugural edition was founded in 2016. [2] Orlando Pirates won the first three editions of the tournament.. In 2019, the tournament started allowing U/21 teams from the PSL and the NFD to participate and increased the numbers of teams from 24 to 32 teams. [3]
