Sonic the Hedgehog is an ongoing American comic book series based on the Sega video game franchise, published by IDW Publishing.. It is the second U.S. licensed comic book adaption of Sonic the Hedgehog after Archie Comics' series of the same name, and the franchise's third overall licensed comic book series after the British Sonic the Comic series by Fleetway Publications.
The first comic he is credited for designing the cover art for was Sonic the Hedgehog #21 (April 1995). Spaziante also worked on Sonic the Hedgehog #25 (August 1995), which was adapted directly from Sonic CD , released two years prior to the release of that comic.

A series of children's picture books were published by Golden Books, featuring the art of Art Mawhinney. Titles include Up Against a Wall, The Secret Admirer and Sonic's Shoes Blues. By 1994, the series had sold 550,000 copies, including 250,000 copies of Sonic's Shoes Blues and 300,000 copies of Sonic's Secret Admirer. [4]
