The First African Methodist Episcopal Church (First AME Church), formerly known as Pierce’s Chapel, [2] is an AME church established in 1866 by Rev. Henry McNeal Turner, and located at 521 North Hull Street in Athens, Georgia. [3] [2] It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 10, 1980. [1] [4]
The church was founded in 1939 in Scottdale as Travelers Rest Baptist Church. [1] In 1983, it moved to Decatur and adopted its current name. Eddie Long took over as pastor in 1987. At the time, the church had only 300 members. In 1994, New Birth became a member of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. [2]
In January 2019, Gwinnett Church opened a second building in the Hamilton Mill area near Buford, Georgia. [8] East Cobb Church was added as the seventh campus of North Point in 2020, bringing eight total locations to the organization. [9] According to a church census released in 2023, it claimed a weekly attendance of 23,000 people. [10]
Saint Philip AME Church began in 1875 on Renfroe St in Reynoldstown, a neighborhood in East Atlanta, under the leadership of Rev. Browning. A second edifice was erected on Oliver St (now known as Kenyon St). In 1922, another building was erected at the corner of Wylie St. & Selma St. This building still stands and is the home to another AME church.

Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church is a Methodist church in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Located in Taylor Square, at 429 Abercorn Street, [1] the building's first floor was completed in 1875, [2] with the second floor added in 1878. The church was completed in 1890. Its spire and stucco were added five years later. [3]
