The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, is a selective boys' grammar school situated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. As a state school, it does not charge fees for pupils to attend, but they must pass the 11 plus, an exam that some primary schools administer. In February 2011, the school became an Academy. [2]
Prior to September 2009, the school was known as AO Springfield, as it was the AO's junior school prior to the RGS/AO merger. Today, the school houses 150 pupils. RGS Springfield is located in a large Georgian house surrounded by six acres of gardens and playing fields. The school has a forest area where the children can learn about nature.
As an RGS girl, there is actually a little legend that we fold our sleeves because, back in the old days, folding your sleeves was considered a "gangster", rebellious kind of style. As such, so many girls were folding their sleeves to look cool that it kind of became a school tradition, and is now a school rule.
