The last Famous Players in Ontario was the Canada Square Cinemas location, which opened in 1985 as a Cineplex Odeon at the Yonge–Eglinton intersection in Toronto. It was a local favourite for its retro feel and independent film showings.

The Garneau Theatre is a historic movie theatre located on 109 Street in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The theatre originally operated independently until it joined with Famous Players in 1941. It closed in late 1990, and reopened in December 1991 under Magic Lantern Theatres who restored it in 1996. [1]
The original theatre was designed by William G. Blakey [4] and built by I.F.Shacker of Hanna. It was managed by Bill Wilson, the son of a Famous Players theatre manager. It was considered luxurious for its time as it had air conditioning, spring seating, and extra legroom. [1] In 1941, the theatre was leased to Odeon Theatres of Canada. [4]
