The JFK 50 Mile or the JFK 50 Mile Memorial is an ultramarathon that takes place annually in Washington County, Maryland, United States. The first race was held on 30 March 1963, one of numerous 50-mile (80 km) races that year. After the Kennedy assassination, many of these events were never held again. [1]
Runners had the option to run the race on one of the two days the weekend it was held. Some runners opted to run both days. In 2007, the course was run in reverse, starting at the 260 Trailhead and travelling West to Pine. The race has an average finishing rate of 71%, making it one of the most difficult 50-mile ultra marathons in the country.

The course record for the Sacramento to Auburn run for men was set in 1994 by Tom Johnson at 5 hours, 33 minutes, and 21 seconds. The women's record, achieved by Ann Trason in 1993, is 6 hours, 9 minutes, and 8 seconds. Gloria Takagishi is the only person to have completed the race every year in its 30-year history.
In addition to helping continue the running traditions with the youth, the events also support the kids with a party, and donations from sponsors and the community to make for a day these young ones look forward to all year long.
