Haverhill (/ ˈ h æ v ər h ɪ l / HAV-ər-hil [2]) is an unincorporated community in southern Green Township, Scioto County, Ohio, United States. It has a post office with the ZIP code 45636. [3] An Ohio River town, it is located between Hanging Rock and Franklin Furnace.
Greenup County, Kentucky lies across the Ohio River to the west. No municipalities are located in Green Township, although the census-designated place of Franklin Furnace lies in the northeastern part of the township, and the unincorporated community of Haverhill lies in the south of the township. Both of these communities are Ohio River towns.
The first corn exchange in the town was erected in the High Street just to the south of St Mary's Parish Church in 1857. [2] [3] However, in the mid-1880s, a group of local businessmen decided to form a private company, to be known as the "Haverhill Corn Exchange Company Limited", to finance and commission a new and more substantial corn exchange for the town. [4]
