Mary Elizabeth Hale Woolsey was born on March 21, 1899, in Spanish Fork, Utah. [1] Her parents were John Thompson Hale and Sarah Elizabeth Stewart Hale. [2] She was one of nine children. [3] She grew up in Provo, Utah. She was inspired by the mountains and love. [4] Mary Elizabeth graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1917. [5]
