Indigo is a game for two to four players. The idea of the game is to collect jewels from the board by laying tiles. The board takes the form of a hexagonal grid, with one tile present at the centre and six at the edge, with even intervals. The rest of the board is empty. On the centre tile are six jewels: one sapphire and five emeralds.
The first player moves their pawn 1 square in any direction, and then selects and removes any tile on the board, leaving an empty square that cannot be entered by either pawn. The second player performs the same sequence, moving their pawn and removing any tile. Play then alternates between the two players. [1]

The player is given an empty hexagon-shaped board, and must strategically place pieces on it to fill in lines of tiles. It started as a test, but unexpectedly went viral after Benjaminsen released it.

The game uses hexagonal tiles to represent the various contents of the hive. The original two editions used wooden tiles with full-color illustrations on blue and silver stickers to represent the units, but the current third edition has been published using black and almond phenolic resin ("Bakelite") tiles with single-color painted etchings.
