Awad Al-Qarni was born in 1957 and raised in Balqarn governorate in Saudi Arabia's southwestern 'Asir Region.Al-Qarni was a professor at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and King Khalid University, who focused on law and has written several books on Islamic jurisprudence and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

King Khalid University is a public university in Abha, Saudi Arabia. Established in 1998, the university came to being through the merger of the satellite campuses of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and King Saud University into one entity. It is named after King Khalid bin Abdulalziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia from 1975 until 1982.
Alghamdi started his career in 1999 as an assistant teacher in the Islamic Creed and Contemporary Religious Doctrine Department at King Khalid University.
