Evening at Pops is an American concert television series produced by WGBH-TV. It is one of the longest-running programs on PBS , airing from 1970 to 2004. [ 1 ] The program was a public television version of a variety show , featuring performances by the Boston Pops Orchestra .
Arthur Fiedler (December 17, 1894 – July 10, 1979) [1] was an American conductor known for his association with both the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestras. With a combination of musicianship and showmanship, he made the Boston Pops one of the best-known orchestras in the United States.
In 1976, Arthur Fiedler conducted Evening at Pops with Roy Clark and the Boston Pops Orchestra. In 1983, Clark opened the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre in Branson, Missouri, which was the "first venue linked permanently to a widely known entertainer" in the resort town. [21] Clark frequently played in Branson during the 1980s and 1990s.
