Charles Henry "Speedy" Atkins (1875–1928) was an American tobacco worker in Paducah, Kentucky. A pauper at his death, he drowned in the Ohio River . The city turned over his body for a pauper's burial to his friend A.Z. Hamock, the only African-American undertaker in town.

Atkins also served on the USS Parrott, USS Tennessee, and the USS New Mexico, among other ships, and was decorated with the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and other medals. He retired in October 1959. Admiral Atkins died on November 15, 2005, at age 94. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia, on January 30, 2006. [2]
