The Gunnison National Forest is a U.S. National Forest covering 1,672,136 acres (2,612.71 sq mi, or 6,766.89 km 2) [1] in Mesa, Gunnison, Hinsdale and Saguache Counties in Western part of the U.S. state of Colorado.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison was established as a national monument on March 2, 1933. In September 2023, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) proposed the "Protecting Access to Recreation with Cash Act" (PARC) which would require national parks to accept cash as a form of payment for entrance fee.
