Ron was born on September 11, 1942, in Syracuse, New York, to George and Helen Lauback. There is a long musical history in the Lauback family (with Ron's mother Helen Lauback being a music teacher in the East Syracuse School District in the 1940s), with young Ron being exposed to jazz, classical and pop music as a child.
