Peking Union Medical College, also as Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, is a national public medical sciences research institution in Dongcheng, Beijing, China. Originally founded in 1906, it is affiliated with the National Health Commission .
Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), also known as Beijing Xiehe Hospital (Chinese: 北京协和医院), is a large teaching hospital in Beijing, China. It was founded in 1921 by the Rockefeller Foundation and is affiliated to both Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS).

Wang Chen (Chinese: 王辰; pinyin: Wáng Chén; born August 7, 1962) is a Chinese pulmonologist and physician currently serving as vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and president of the Peking Union Medical College. He is a member of the Chinese Hospital Association (CHA) and Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA).

The Peking Union Medical College was established in 1917 by the Rockefeller Foundation and was modeled on the US medical education system. Tsinghua first established its medical school in 2001 and in 2006, Tsinghua's medical school merged with the Peking Union Medical College renaming it "Peking Union Medical College, Tsinghua University".
Zhao was born in Changchun, Jilin, in July 1954.He graduated from Norman Bethune Medical University (now Norman Bethune Health Science Center of Jilin University) in 1982 before gaining a master's degree in medical science from China Union Medical University (now Graduate School of Peking Union Medical College) in 1987.
