Nyloc nut. A nyloc nut, also referred to as a nylon-insert lock nut, polymer-insert lock nut, or elastic stop nut, is a kind of locknut with a nylon collar that increases friction on the screw thread. The nylon collar insert is placed at the end of the nut, with an inner diameter (ID) slightly smaller than the major diameter of the screw.
A locknut, also known as a lock nut, locking nut, self-locking nut, prevailing torque nut, [1] stiff nut [1] or elastic stop nut, [2] is a nut that resists loosening under vibrations and torque. Prevailing torque nuts have some portion of the nut that deforms elastically to provide a locking action. [ 2 ]
Clip-on nut: J-nut or U-nut, sheet metal nut, speed nut (ambiguously) Designed to be clipped to sheet metal Coupling nut: Extension nut A threaded fastener for joining two male threads, most commonly a threaded rod,[1][2] but also pipes Flange nut: Collar nut Has a wide flange at one end that acts as an integrated washer HARDLOCK Nut [3]
A screw thread, often shortened to thread, is a helical structure used to convert between rotational and linear movement or force. A screw thread is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder or cone in the form of a helix, with the former being called a straight thread and the latter called a tapered thread.
DIN 980: All-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nuts: Withdrawn: DIN EN ISO 7042, DIN EN ISO 10513: ISO 7042, ISO 10513: DIN 981: Locknuts for use with rolling bearings: Active: DIN 982: Prevailing torque type hexagon nuts with nonmetallic insert: Withdrawn: DIN EN ISO 7040, DIN EN ISO 10512: ISO 7040, ISO 10512: DIN 983
A distorted thread locknut, [1] is a type of locknut that uses a deformed section of thread to keep the nut from loosening due to vibrations, or rotation of the clamped item. There are four types: elliptical offset nuts, centerlock nuts, toplock nuts and partially depitched (Philidas) nuts.
Assorted washers: flat, split, star and insulating. A washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped, but sometimes square) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut.
A 2BA thread is used to connect the metal barrel of a dart to its shaft — as such, it is one of the few common uses of this thread in North America. In the UK, 2BA threads are commonly found in the old imperial British Engineering Standards Association (BESA) conduit boxes , and 4BA threads in light switch and socket back boxes which are ...
