Brown County State Park is located in the United States in the center of the southern half of the state of Indiana.The park is by far the largest of 24 state parks in Indiana, and occupies 15,776 acres (63.84 km 2)—making it one of the larger state parks in the United States.

The zoo was started when a circus lion cub ended up on James T. Miller's farm around 1900, and was eventually given to the city of Bloomington. [3] The lion, later named "Big Jim", died on March 26, 1912. After Big Jim's death, funds were raised to construct the Koetthoefer Animal Building by Bloomington architect Arthur L. Pillsbury.

Miller Park was also once home to what the locals called "Monkey Island" during the 1960s. In the middle of man-made Miller Park Lake, there stood a platform with the metal dome that once belonged to McLean County Courthouse, [1] on which they had a live monkey exhibit, designed by Grover Kathoffer. [2]
