Interstate 4 (I-4) is an Interstate Highway located entirely within the US state of Florida, maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Spanning 132.30 miles (212.92 km) along a generally southwest–northeast axis, I-4 is entirely concurrent with State Road 400 ( SR 400 ).
A major goal of this extension was to alleviate I-4 traffic. [2] On June 2, 2018, a section of SR 434 in Oviedo was closed after an old drainage structure below the road collapsed and caused a 3-foot (0.91 m) wide hole to open up. The road reopened to traffic on June 8, 2018 after repairs were made. [3]
SR 429 traverses some of the highest elevations in Orange County and is often within a few miles of the Lake Wales Ridge.It runs along the west side of Greater Orlando, later curving around Apopka, crossing the Wekiva River into Seminole County and connecting with Interstate 4 and Florida State Road 417 to complete a nearly complete ring around the city.
The final six miles (10 km) connect to Interstate 4 near Sanford/Lake Mary, and opened to traffic on September 15, 2002, approximately seven months ahead of the final schedule.
