The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club (GPYC) is a private yacht club located on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. [1] The club is a member of the Detroit Regional Yacht-racing Association (DRYA). [citation needed] The clubhouse is prominently visible and a well-known landmark along the shoreline of the lake north of Detroit.

Grosse Pointe Shores (officially Village of Grosse Pointe Shores, a Michigan City [5]) is a city in Wayne and Macomb counties in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,647 at the 2020 census , [ 2 ] down from 3,008 in 2010 .
Grande Pointe was founded around 1870, with a dozen families of various backgrounds settled there. The Pembina Branch Line of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, now the CPR Soo Line, was built through the community in 1874, with a rail station built in Grande Pointe in 1878. [5] In 1890, a post office was built, which closed in 1968. [4]
