It was created by the amalgamation of the town of New Liskeard, the town of Haileybury, and the township of Dymond in 2004. The city had a total population of 9,634 in the Canada 2021 Census. [2] Temiskaming Shores is Ontario's second-smallest city, in terms of population, after Dryden. Haileybury is the seat of Timiskaming District.
Timiskaming is a district and census division in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. The district was created in 1912 from parts of Algoma, Nipissing, and Sudbury districts. In 1921, Cochrane District was created from parts of this district and parts of Thunder Bay District.
Lake Timiskaming or Lake Temiskaming (French: Lac Témiscamingue, pronounced [lak temiskamɛ̃ɡ]) is a large freshwater lake on the provincial boundary between Ontario and Quebec, Canada. The lake, which forms part of the Ottawa River, is 110 km (68 mi) in length and covers an area of 304 km 2 (117 sq mi).
Kirkland Lake is a town and municipality in Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario.The 2021 population, according to Statistics Canada, was 7,750. [1]The community name was based on a nearby lake which in turn was named after Winnifred Kirkland, a secretary of the Ontario Department of Mines in Toronto.
Highway 11B through Cobalt, Haileybury and New Liskeard was created in 1963 when Highway 11 was transferred to the newly opened Tri Town Bypass, and was the second longest business route in Ontario with a length of 26.1 kilometres (16.2 mi).

Secondary Highway 558, commonly referred to as Highway 558, is a secondary highway in the Canadian province of Ontario.Located in the Timiskaming District, the highway begins at the western city limits of Temiskaming Shores, three kilometres west of Highway 11 along Mowat Landing Road.
The Haileybury Silver property (Frontier) had received some attention and soon the need for cobalt would prompt this property back under the microscope. In 1921 extensive drilling and intense underground drifting disclosed ample cobalt reserve and eventually a large silver ore shoot indicating over 200,000 oz (5,700,000 g) of silver was discovered.
