Yarmouth (/ ˈ j ɑːr m ə θ / YAR-məth) is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States, on Cape Cod. The population was 25,023 at the 2020 census . The town is made up of three major villages: South Yarmouth , West Yarmouth , and Yarmouth Port .

Interstate 295 was built through Yarmouth in 1963, diverting traffic from downtown Yarmouth and, thus, damaging the restaurant's lunch business. [4] The family built the business back, adding more motel rooms and a swimming pool. [4] Sue Ferrell began working at the restaurant in 1972.
To the north is U.S. Route 6, the Mid-Cape Highway, beyond which is the CDP of Yarmouth Port. According to the United States Census Bureau , the West Yarmouth CDP has a total area of 9.1 square miles (23.6 km 2 ), of which 6.7 square miles (17.3 km 2 ) is land and 2.4 square miles (6.3 km 2 ) (26.54%) is water.
After the marina, the river goes under the Route 28 bridge and winds five more miles deep into the cape.
