This is a Word 365 problem, not a Windows problem. In case it's relevant, in View Print Layout, Word also sometimes does not correctly display the document. Specifically, a lot of it is blank space on the screen. Going to View Draft fixes this, so far. [My disappearing insertion point happens in Draft view.]

Yes. The blinking cursor insertion point ends up being a few lines of text above the desired location. This is an intermittent problem. Starting in safe mode wouldn't prove anything. I just tried to reproduce the problem in regular mode and the blinking insertion point went to the correct point.
