Tanjiro’s main goal is to defeat and kill Muzan, i.e., to rid the world of demons, and he ultimately manages to do that in the final arc of the series. Tanjiro survived the final fight against Muzan, unlike many of his friends, and went on to marry Kanao and have a family.
