The Thar Express (Hindi: थार एक्सप्रेस, Urdu: تھر ایکسپریس, Rajasthani: थार एक्सप्रेस, Sindhi: ٿر ايڪسپريس) was an international passenger train that ran between the Bhagat Ki Kothi a suburban area of Jodhpur in the Indian State of Rajasthan and Karachi Cantonment of Karachi in the Pakistani Province of Sindh.

The Thar Express is the oldest route, however, because it was damaged in the war [clarification needed] it remained closed for 41 years. Upon restoration it became the new train service between the two countries. [1] [2] Jodhpur–Bikaner Railway was merged with the Western Railway on 5 November 1951. [3]
This train used to operate via Ahmedabad–Palanpur–Marwar–Pali–Jodhpur–Luni–Barmer–Munabao–Khokhrapar–Mirpur Khas–Hyderabad. [1] After partition this train was cut short from Hyderabad in Pakistan to Jodhpur in India. This train ran till 1965 and was discontinued due to 1965 war. Today Thar Express operate on this route. On the Indian side the Thar Link Express runs non-stop once a week from Bhagat Ki Kothi (near Jodhpur) to Munabao and back. [1] Pakistan Railways have set up a new railway station at Zero Point [6] There is a passenger train linking Munabao to Barmer, which runs on all days except Monday. [1] [7]
An earlier train ran between Amritsar and Lahore and vice versa and carried 8,239 persons from India to Pakistan and 10,360 from Pakistan to India from 28 October 1954 to 30 November 1954.
