"Fire" is a song by R&B/funk band Ohio Players. It was the opening track from the album of the same name and hit No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Soul Singles chart in early 1975. [3] It spent two weeks atop the soul chart. "Fire" was the Ohio Players' only entry on the new disco/dance chart, where it peaked at No. 10. [4]
They coined their own term for disco-jazz, "dazz". [2] They released their first single "Music Matic" on Main Street Records in 1976, before signing to the independently distributed Bang Records. Their next single, "Dazz", (#3 Pop, #1 R&B) [3] was released in 1976. The band continued to record for Bang records until 1982.
According to Rap-Up, the song "blurs the line between house and R&B", and contains a "slinky" rhythm. [14] It is more pop and dance-indebted than Tinashe's previous material.
