Cavendish-Bentinck married Lady Mary Lowther, second daughter of William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale on 16 September 1820 and they had one son, George Cavendish-Bentinck born 9 July 1821. Lady Abdy was the wife of Bentinck's friend Sir William Abdy, 7th Baronet. Following the elopement, Lady Abdy was divorced by her husband. She and Bentinck were married on 23 July 1816. They had four children: Reverend Charles William Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck (8 November 1817 – 17 August 1865).
