Altnagelvin Area Hospital was the first major hospital built in the United Kingdom after the Second World War and opened in 1960. [1]In February 2003 the hospital was designated as one of the nine acute hospitals in the acute hospital network of Northern Ireland on which healthcare would be focused under the government health policy 'Developing Better Services'.

In Nigeria, Physiotherapy training is a 5-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPhysio) or Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (BMR) degree programme. [1] A 1-year clinical internship program under the supervision of senior and experienced clinician physiotherapists is required upon graduation from an accredited University before the new graduate can be licensed to practice as a physiotherapist.
In 1970, he became a consultant physician on the Highland and Western Isles Health Board; five years later, he moved to Altnagelvin Hospital, where he worked until 2003. [1] In 1999, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire "for services to rehabilitation services". [ 2 ]
