JEE-Main, unlike JEE-Advanced, has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year. On 18 June 2012, a more specific format was proposed by a joint meeting of the councils of IITs, NITs, and IIITs. As per this proposal, the exam would be called the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and would be made up of two parts, JEE-Main [9] and JEE-Advanced.
