The Catch is a Channel 5 and My5 four-part drama series set in the west of England, adapted by Michael Crompton [1] from the 2020 novel of the same name by T. M. Logan. [2] Starring Jason Watkins, Aneurin Barnard, Poppy Gilbert and Cathy Belton. The first episode was broadcast on Channel 5 and My5 in the UK on 25 January 2023.
The series was commissioned in October 2023 by Channel 5. It is produced by Roughcut Television and CBS Studios. Written and created by Ben Edwards, the executive producers for Roughcut Television are Alex Smith, Marianna Abbotts and Ash Atalla. The director is Michael Samuels. The series has Claire Goose and Lee Ingleby cast as a married couple with their daughter played by Freya Hannan-Mills, with Jill Halfpenny as Sian, their new Lodger and Marjorie Yates also cast. [4] [5] Halfpenny was initially in line to play the role of Jessica but pushed to play the protagonist role of Sian. [6]

The plot focuses on two families as they take a joint vacation amidst the bushfire season.
The six-part series was announced in November 2022 with Sophie Turner cast as Joan Hannington. It was created by Anna Symon, adapting from Hannington's 2002 memoir I Am What I Am: The True Story of Britain's Most Notorious Jewel Thief, with the pair meeting as Symon was writing the series. [2]
