On May 31, 2018, Bangladesh Railway signed an agreement with the China Railway Design Corporation and Mazumder Enterprise. [3] This contract is designed to verify the design and feasibility of proposed high-speed train lines. According to this agreement, feasibility and design work will be completed in December 2019 at a cost of Tk102.10 crore.

On 16 April 2015, a manned seven-car L0 series trainset reached 590 km/h (370 mph), breaking the previous world record of 581 km/h (361 mph) set by a Japanese MLX01 maglev train set in December 2003. The speed of 590 km/h was sustained for a period of 19 seconds. [ 24 ]
