The Lagos International also known as Lagos International Badminton Classics is an annual open international badminton tournament held in Lagos, Nigeria.This tournament established since 2014, organized by the Lagos State Badminton Association (LSBA) and Badminton Federation of Nigeria. [1]
In 1980, the team won the men's team event at the 1980 African Badminton Championships in Beira. [3] In 1982, Nigeria hosted the 1982 African Badminton Championships and won their second title in the men's team event. [4] In 1988, the team won their third men's team title at the 1988 African Badminton Championships on home soil. [5]

The first six nations to compete in badminton at the Games were Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius and Seychelles. Six main events were held, which were men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles and the mixed team event. The African Badminton Championships is a tournament organized by the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) to crown the best badminton players in Africa. For the team event there is the African Badminton Cup of Nations.
